Hello all of you who never read this blog! Another trip to north shore, this one a lil more successful than the last one! Only a day trip this time fishing the Stewart, yes we fished the Stewart on May 22nd caught and saw fish, and fished the Baptism to finish out our day.
Above is steelie caught on the Stewart, sight fished in a foot of water on a Stone. It was not as spunky as a fresh fish, but sight fishing a 26 inch steelie is a rush unlike any other!
The beauty of this trip was the simple fact that we saw no one fishing the ENTIRE day. So the fish in the Stewart were not fresh but the Baptism was a different story! They may not have been real fresh but they went nuts! We found stones and anything big and that matched the color of the water to be really effective. We hooked 5 on the Baptism, sadly 2 came off at our feet and we landed 1 along with 2 resident rainbows in the 17 inch range. Below is a 25 inch steelie out of the pool you an see in the background.
I am apparently in the minority of people who think fishing a little later in the year and not seeing a soul is about the greatest thing ever! My brother and I had a blast, the water level was great, the weather was beautiful, and fishing any and every hole we felt like when we wanted was a luxury I will take in place of fishing during "peak". I am trying to plan a trip to the NORTH of the North Shore first week of June, let ya know how it goes! -Looperhead
